An Open Letter to My Bridesmaids

It’s one of the most important days of your life. You have found the perfect man and fell head over heals in love and the time has come to take the wonderful walk down the aisle to say “I Do.” The morning of is filled with excitement, anxiety, happiness, and the smallest amount of fear.

At this point, the most important people in your world are the girls who have dedicated their lives the last few weeks to listening to you complain. Complain, about the little details that honestly won’t matter, held your hand through the stress of planning, spent hundreds of dollars on a dress you picked out for them, and cried with you when you finally said yes to your beautiful white dress. These girls become your backbone and support while planning your wedding and become your strength and sanity the day of your wedding.

I would like to send out an open letter to the girls who held my hand through this craziness and kicked their heals off to dance with me after it was all done and time to celebrate!

Dear Ashley, Kelsey, Heather, Jill M, Jill C, Cassie, Jadelyn, and Brittany.

Your love and support has meant so much to me. Since the day, you said yes to being in my wedding you have been my guardian angels. It is an incredibly hard job keeping me sane on any given day never mind my wedding day, or all the days leading up to it. Without you, I highly doubt I would have been able to make it down that aisle.

You were there for every minute of my chaotic planning whether it be in person to hold my hard or over the phone listening to my anxiety and excitement. My wedding day was perfect; It was straight out of my dreams, and it would not have been this way if it was not for all of you!

I apologize for my craziness and stress that I projected on to all you through this process. Now that I look back there was no need for any of it regardless of if all the centerpieces were in the exact center of the tables or if Burgundy was a good accent color for the reception. It didn’t matter if I wore pink or nude lipstick and having the red velvet cake be the perfect shade of red was foolish. But regardless you all talked me down from the ridiculous worries calmly without trying to shake the crazy out of me.

You all were so special to me before all the wedding planning began and my love for you all has only grown more and more since then.

Ashley (maid of Honor) : You have always been someone I look up to. Growing up I could only wish that I would end up like you! I may not have picked up your good social skills, but you have taught me so much. You may only be five years older than me, but you are my sister and I owe you so much! I am so lucky that you are my family because we will have this bond and friendship forever!

Kelsey (maid of Honor) : Best friends since November 1st, 1993, how lonely you must have been for those six months before I was born lol. I am so lucky to have a cousin I was able to grow up with. Being the same age bonded us to share all of the crazy stages life throws at young girls. As my cousin I know we will always have a bond, no matter where our lives take us we will always have each other. I guess this is one of the best parts about having a cousin as a best friend!

Heather: My new little sister! I have never had a little sister before, but I am so glad I have you! You have always been so easy to talk too, since the first day I met your family I have always admired you! You march to your own beat and have the most contagious personality; you have so much to offer the world. I am so proud to have you as a sister!

Jill M: My new big sister! You are one of the nicest people I have ever met! I love how I feel like I always have something to talk about with you! Whether it be fashion, celebrity gossip, our love for the same TV shows, Bickfords, or new books to read! I am so glad to have you as a big sister; we have so much in common, and I always look forward to texting you after the new episodes of our favorite shows! P.S. I am calling Lauren B to win Ben’s heart this season!

Jill C: I honestly do not know what I can say to you that hasn’t already been said! You have been my best friend for 17 years and even though at this point we know way too much about each other and have spent more time together than any two people should you still are one of my favorite people in this world! I look back on any of my big moments in the past 17 years, and you were there for them all. From the first day of first grade till today you have always been there! You will always be my Carrie, and I will always be you, Charlotte! (SITC)

Cassie: Roommates are always friends forever! I am so happy that I ended up rooming with you our sophomore year! You dealt with my crazy then, and you still do now. You are one of the few people that can always get my to open up and just enjoy life. I also think you got the most of my freak out texts leading up to the wedding!

Jadelyn: You are the easiest person to get to know! You are so bubbly and open no one can help but love you! You have been there for me and Tylers entire relationship and having you in my wedding was so special! Thanks for dancing with me all night!

Brittany: My new cousin! First I can’t believe we went to the same high school and never knew each other! You are a life saver, and I am so glad you were apart of my special day! When we told everyone at Christmas we would be getting married in 2 weeks I was nervous how everyone would take it, but you were so excited and supportive all my anxiety instantly left. I was already excited to be saying I do but somehow you made me even more excited! I am so glad that you and I are family!

You all are so beautiful inside and out! You looked stunning in your navy dresses, I love each and every one of you! I owe you all so much more than a letter! You all will forever be my girls, best friends, family, and bridesmaids!

The Wedding.. My Dream!

Hello everyone!

So sorry I have not blogged in the last few months! With the wedding plans my senior year and trying to have some sort of social life I have been BUSY!

If you follow me on any of my social media sites you know that I tied the knot! On January 8th 2016 I said “I Do” to my best friend and the love of my life! I have been loving my new life as Mrs. Trites and have been enjoying my happily ever after!

Since so many of you have been sending me messages asking for updates on what I have been doing or just to say congratulations I thought It would be nice if I could share some details with you all!

So my wedding day was perfect, it was actually more then what I had dreamed of since I was a little girl! The man I married is more amazing then any man I could ever dream up. He is the kindest, most loving man I have ever met. Not only does he make me happy but he makes me feel like no matter where I am I am home as long as I am with him I could never be lost! I hope you all wait for the right man because you all deserve to feel the way he makes me feel.

I’m sure that some of you who keep up with my life were shocked at the wedding date. Yes, it was supposed to be in September but sometimes life throws you a curve ball and you just have to go with the flow. We ended up planning an  entire wedding at a venue that was not practical for our needs. It was to small for the amount of people we felt needed to be there. So while we were on break from school we planned a wedding. Something that takes people months or even years to plan we got together in 3 weeks! and it was perfect!

Over the next week I will be posting a post each day with more details and photos of the wedding! I hope you all enjoy this, and thank you for all your love and support!!

Reese Witherspoon At the Oscars!

Hello everyone!

I know that the title makes this sound like one of the typical Oscar posts! You know best and worst dress and all! However, I promise that this post will be very very different then what you are going to expect!

I just wanted to write to you about a few things that Reese Witherspoon brought up tonight! The first thing would be her Oscar Instagram post! Earlier tonight Reese wrote:

❤ this movement #AskHerMore..have you heard of it? It’s meant to inspire reporters to ask creative questions on the red carpet. I love the Oscars AND fashion like many of you – & am excited to share #WhoAmIWearinglater tonight. (not yet!!) But I’d also love to answer some of these Qs….And hear your suggestions?! (Share em below!) There are so many amazing, talented nominees this year..! Let’s hear their stories! Spread the word. #AskHerMore #Oscars #Countdown

What I loved about this is that she is trying to make an extremely vain aspect of the award show into so much more than that! I have never been one to idolize models or actresses however I think that a few of them can be seen as strong woman who deserve to be recognized. Reese Witherspoon is one of these women! She has gone through most of her career playing strong female leads that make a woman feel empowered. Now that she has began producing she has taken on stories of strong women, such as Wild.

Reese is a woman with a lot of influence on the world as well as on many young women and girls! For her to come out and say that although what people are wearing at the Oscars is fun. There is a lot more to a woman than their dresses, hairstyles, or overall appearance, is inspiring. I hope that many people realize that women are strong and can inspire!

I hope that others can see that there is more to a woman than her outfits, hair, or looks. People are beautiful for their personality, talents, kindness, good deeds, lovingness, strength, and soo soo much more! You are all beautiful inside and out! ❤

Hello all of my favorite readers!

I just wanted to write to you about the word beautiful!

“adjective: having beauty; possessing qualities that give great pleasure or satisfaction to see, hear, think about, etc.”

When I read this my first thought was not model, and that shouldn’t have been your thought either! My first thought was my family members, friends, and, of course, all of you! You see the problem that many people have today about, not feeling beautiful is do to all the photoshopped pictures that we have thrown at us every time we read a magazine, turn on the TV, or go on the internet! the only way to fix this problem is to realize what beauty really is!

Beauty is in every one of you! You all are beautiful because you are you! Everyone has their own form of beauty! You don’t have to have pouty lips like Angelina Jole or be as tall as Taylor Swift to be considered beautiful! All you have to do is be true to you! You don’t need the newest fashion trends or the latest hairstyle all you have to do is do what makes you happy! Because there is nothing more beautiful than a smile! Happiness will never go out of style!

Everyone should look in the mirror and realize that, that girl looking back at you is beautiful because she is you!!

Laura Ingles Wilder

Hello, everyone happy Saturday!

Today is the birthday of a very important woman Laura Ingalls Wilder. Most of you will know her as the woman who wrote the Little House On The Prairie books or even the little girl in the television show portrayed by Milissa Gilbert. in many ways this woman has made a big impact on my life since she died in 1957 I clearly have never met her. But the words that she wrote in her books have helped guide my through so many of life’s tricky situations. Sure, our lives were completely different, many of the lessons she wrote about can still apply to girls lives today.

Her words have gone on to inspire generations after generation. First the generations who read her books using their imaginations to envision what these strong characters looked like. Then the generations who were influenced by the television show that was on for 9 years. I grew up watching reruns and reading her books during my school reading hour. The adventures of Laura and Mary were inspiring to me and they also taught me so much about life. Sure I was never going to grow up on the Prairie or experience the fears of going blind like Mary did. But still these books and television episodes tell the stories of amazingly strong woman in a time where that wasn’t the norm.

To Me Laura Ingles Wilder is a role model, she was a woman ahead of her time.

Run Like A Girl

Hello everyone,

I am sure that you have all seen the very inspiring commercial that aired during the Super bowl. If you haven’t seen it, it is an Always commercial for pads and tampons. Through this commercial they are spreading the message of their new #LikeAGirl campaign. It involves asking people to throw like a girl or run like a girl. When they acted this out they acted like they couldn’t run or throw. Later they are asked if what they had portrayed was offensive to girls. Now, jump to a bunch of very young girls asked to do the same where they actually did the activity as they typically would.

This commercial has been in the news a lot lately gaining both praise and criticism. Some people say that this commercial is a step forward for gender equality and a great message to young girls. others say that it does the exact opposite. As an optimistic feminist, as I like to put it, I believe that this is a good commercial to air. I’m sure that they could have done a few things better than they did, but it sure as hell sends a better message than the overly sexist go daddy commercials or beer commercial that we are so used to seeing while watching football.

The idea of “like a girl” is typically viewed as an insult in today’s athlete. I am no were close to being an athlete but I can certainly throw better than the typical throw like a girl is portrayed. I don’t think this commercial is going to end this expression if anything it may have even made it into more of a joke. But the message that is applied in this commercial is a good one that we should be portraying to our daughter, nieces, friends, and sisters.

I am going to post the commercial below, just click on the “running” girl bellow. Also, let  me know what you think of the commercial. Is it a good message to girls? run1-2

The 20 Beautiful woman Challenge

Hello, all of you beautiful people!!

Today I wanted to write to you about a great thing I have seen going around lately, I am sure many of you have seen it too! It’s called The 20 Beautiful woman Challenge. It is on Instagram and is basically where people post a selfie of themselves and tag 20 other woman to do the same.

Now the purpose if this post is not just an excuse to post a selfie at least that’s not what it is attended for. It is actually supposed to promote self-esteem and make women feel beautiful. You need to post a selfie that you feel beautiful in. This post shouldn’t be about the amount of likes you receive or comments it is about you and what makes you feel beautiful.

I got nominated for this post by my boyfriends little sister, she is beautiful both inside and out. So now it’s my turn I am supposed to post a selfie and tag 20 of my lady friends which I will do on Instagram, however, I wanted to take this challenge one set further I will post a selfie that makes me feel beautiful at the bottom of this post and I am challenging everyone who reads this to the same. I don’t care if your male or female just post a picture that makes you feel beautiful and challenge your friends to do the same!

So here it is:

Now it’s your turn!!

Mirror Checks

Okay, so its 9 Am you get up, shower, hair, makeup, clothing you’re ready for the day! You’re about to walk out the door, but you have to look in the mirror one last time. However, this time is different than the other times, this last look is filed with judgment, and anxiety. It’s like that scene in the princess diaries when Mia looks in the mirror and says “that’s as good as it’s going to get.”

This is something that every girl does. It seems to be hardwired in us to give ourselves that last hit on our self-confidence right before we walk out the door and enter the cruel world.

So why do girls think that their worth lies only in their image?

Have you ever thought about what makes you beautiful? It is your hair color, jean size, or length of your legs? Or is it you thoughts, emotions, and actions? If we can change the way we think of beauty our problems can be solved! I know that changing the world’s opinions isn’t something that I will be able to do but maybe I can change your opinion. Because to me one more happy and confident girl in the world is a miracle that should be celebrated.

Did you know that reports state that only 2% of teenage girls admit to thinking there beautiful! This statistic literally makes my stomach ache. I think the journey, to feeling beautiful, doesn’t start with makeup or curlers it starts with love for yourself and pride in your thoughts, accomplishments, and actions.

A woman named Lizzie Velasquez has been named the ugliest woman in the world, but I think she is the most beautiful! She suffers from a rare syndrome that prevents her from gaining weight making her appear different than others. She has been bullied and tormented by strangers, colleagues, and classmates. However, she took this as an opportunity to speak out about what beauty actually is and what makes her actually one of the most beautiful woman in the world!

I am going to post her video bellow I want you all to watch it! so that you can see what beauty really means because believe me this woman is beautiful and inspiring!!lizzie_velasquez

I personally think that after you listen to her talk you will no longer worry about your mirror check because you will know you are beautiful for the amazing things you do everyday!!

I Love Being Crazy

Happy Tuesday everyone,

So if you live anywhere on Earth today I am sure you have heard the stereotype that woman are just crazy. Well, you know what for once I am not going to fight this accusation I am going to own it.

All throughout history woman have been accused of doing crazy things by men by other woman and y society as a whole. But in the end that crazy thing we did may end up saving life or changing the world. Honestly let’s all be crazy and let’s look at the facts!

Rosa Parks:

Crazy for: Sitting in a seat

Hero for: Creating one of the greatest civil rights protests of all time for sitting in that seat. American Hero I think so!

Dr Elizabeth Blackwell

Crazy for: wanting to do a man’s job

Hero for: Becoming the first female Dr. and saving and healing countless number of people

Mary Wollstonecraft

Crazy for: Her nonsense writing

Hero for: Being the “mother of feminism” writing her paper on how woman are not inferior to men because of our biology or anatomy but because woman need to be more educated Stating a movement for women’s education and gender equality

Marie Curie

Crazy for: Thinking she was smarter than a man

Hero for: Her work as a chemist and physicist going on to win not 1 but 2 Nobel Prize

Jane Goodall

Crazy for: The crazy gorilla lady

Hero For: Her amazing work in primatology and anthropology as well as an amazing animal activist and conservationist.

So basically the point I am trying to make is if these women are crazy I will gladly say that I am crazy too. These women make me proud to be a woman. And for all you girls out there never let someone tell you your crazy or your idea is crazy you may just be the next big hero!

Adding One More Miracle To My Family

Hello all you amazing readers!

First I hope you can all forgive me for my lack of posts and I do mean lack of posts!! I wanted to update you all on what has been going on in my little life. I am a Junior in college now still studying hard trying to figure out how I’ll be able to turn my passion for helping people like you all into a career. I moved into my very own home its very small but it’s wonderful because its mine! But most importantly my family welcomed a beautiful baby girl into yesterday morning. Her name is Milania and she is absolutely perfect in every way!!! Although I haven’t met her yet because I am away from my home town I am beyond excited for Saturday when Ill finally get to see her cuteness in person!! Ashley (the mother) is such a strong and inspiring woman, I know that Milania is going to grow up just the same!

In honor of Milania and Ashley I wanted to write to you all about change and love! These two things seem like they may have nothing in common but they actually have a heck of a lot in common. I’m sure you have all heard the cliche love is about compromise, but sometimes it goes more like: love is about change! which is not always a bad thing. Ashley’s life has changed forever! After yesterday she went from being a daughter, sister, cousin, friend, hairdresser, woman, ect… to being all that plus her new and most important title MOTHER!! Milania is a product of love and that love brought along this amazing baby girl and a lot of change to the life of her family! SO you can see change and love go hand and hand.

I’m sure some of you reading this are mothers or fathers and have experienced this positive and amazing change but for all of you younger ladies this may not apply to you for years! So let’s come up with a story for you all COLLEGE! I know many of my readers are in high school nd believe it or not college or jobs will happen for you eventually and you will have to face a lot of change! You will have to deal with moving away or having others move away and sometimes that is your love, this can be hard! You will not know whether you should give up or hang on. Well let me tell you, you have the answer I promise you! You are the one who needs to make that choice don’t let anyone else make that choice for you because then you are letting this other person control your life! Be strong and take your time you are young, you have time to fall in love or out of love many times. This can hurt but you will heal! I am not saying that love at a young age isn’t real because believe me I know it is just as real at 15 ten it is at 50 but  your heart will guide you and you will make the right changes for you!

I love you all your are amazing and beautiful
