There’s A Little Turkey In All Of Us

Hey Everyone,

Happy Monday, I know Mondays are typically nothing to be excited but I still hope you all had a great day!

It’s almost Thanksgiving here in America and you we can officially let the Holiday season begin! Just like most of the world, The holidays are always my favorite time of the year. The magic is everywhere people literally sing in the streets!

The best part about this time of the year is that you get to spend it with family and friends and the people who mean the most to you!

To me, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because you get to express your love and thankfulness for each other! Its a time to reflect on the year and think about who and what you are thankful for. It’s not all about Turkey even though who could resist that much food!

Usually, I would post something like this on the actual holiday but for me, it was one of those Mondays I needed a little bit of optimism and thoughtfulness! Since this post is early I hope you all take the next few days to think about who and what you are thankful for!

For example:

I am thankful for every single one of my followers and readers, not only do I feel your love and support on a daily basis but you have become such good friends! Regardless of if we have ever met or ever will meet you all have become a huge part of my life! I wish you all a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!

XOXO,

Michelle

An Open Letter To My Readers

Hello Everyone,

I hope you enjoyed the guest post from my husband yesterday! He was very excited to get to know you all!

Today I want to write to you about why I made this blog in the first place! Yesterday was my 100th post and I celebrated 3 years on wordpress last week! I feel like its about time that I restate my intent behind this blog.

I started writing my freshman year of college. It started as a way to relieve stress and feel like I was putting some good into the world. I wanted to write to women who needed a confidence boost and a little bit of help seeing their self worth!

I am a true believer that everyone is beautiful and we all deserve to know it! When I first started I was just hoping to reach a few girls and help them with the words I wrote! I remember when I got my first comment saying I helped someone, it was the best feeling ever! Over time I started receiving messages from girls asking for my advice and opinions, this is where a good chunk of my posts came from, I figured if one girl is having these problems others must be too!

I was very happy with my readers I felt like even though I had few readers I was helping those who I was able to reach. But last year everything blew up! I started getting hundreds of subscribers a day and thousands upon thousands of viewers. I tried to keep up with the messages but I am only one person. I began to feel like I wasn’t doing enough for all of you and that I was inadequate to be trying to help so many people. My posts began to get less frequent and eventually I stopped posting for months at a time.

Quite recently I have decided that I can only do the best I can but I still want to help! I am back to blogging everyday and trying to help as many people as I can. I must admit that writing anything that hundreds of thousands of people are going to read is a little daunting but I believe that my words can help!

I  hope you have all enjoyed reading my posts over the last three years. Thank you for sticking with me, you all have told me time and time again of how much I have helped you, but you all have helped me too! You all have become my friends, people who I look forward to sharing my stories with. You have been with me through breakups, bad hair cuts, loss of family members, loss of friends, an engagement, and a marriage! So for always being on the other side of the internet I thank you!

I promise to do my very best to always be a loyal friend to all of you and to keep sharing love and advice!

With Love,

Michelle

#KylieJennerLipChallenge

Hello everyone,

Its seems to me that the Kardashians are at it again, or should I say Jenner’s! The newest trend they have started is known as the #KylieJennerLipChallenge. I guess many girls want to have full lips like Kylie and have been trying to get these lips by sticking their lips in shot glasses and water bottles so the suction creates this full lip look. Well, let me warn you all not to do this because it most definitely won’t work! And it will actually make you look rather frightening when you have horrible bruises around your lips. Not quite the sexy look you were going for.

The new hashtag #KylieJennerLipChallenge is trending on many social media sites and the results are very different then the lips that people hope to achieve. Many of these girls develop round bruises around their lips and others have achieved huge lips that do not look pouty or sexy but rather terrifying and ridiculous. I urge you all not to fall victim of this trend, not only is it dangerous but its not needed!

Why do you feel like you need big lips or to look like Kylie Jenner? Sure, she is pretty but so are you. You may not have big pouty lips, but I can promise you that your lips are just as beautiful. Every person has different features that make up their face, they are not like anyone else’s (unless you are a twin) because it’s your face, not someone else’s!  Be proud of who you are and what you look like because when your proud other people can see your confidence and it is the most attractive quality a woman can have! If you have confidence in yourself then you will not need big lips to feel beautiful or sexy. More girls need to learn about the natural beauty that’s inside all of them, and you need to embrace it! You should be proud of that and want to show it off!

Just in case these words were not enough for you all, and you want to try this challenge I will insert some pictures of the results, and I am sure this will make you think twice! Just a warning they may be disturbing to some people so don’t scroll down if you are not prepared lol

Love you all

Michelle ❤

The first picture is Kylie the rest are pictures from everyone else’s results to this challenge!

Social Media

Hello, all my beautiful readers,

A few days ago I wrote about the 20 Beautiful woman tag. I have gotten a few mixed messages from my readers on this tag, some people see it as inspirational and others see it as a popularity contest. I couldn’t agree more with both of these opinions. It is both good and bad, it can make people feel beautiful when nominated and yet at the same time it makes other feel left out when they are not nominated. In my initial post about this tag I nominated all of you, every single person who reads my blog or even just stumble upon it right now. My Instagram feed is in the sidebar so feel free to mention that I tagged you. I want you all to feel beautiful because you all are beautiful!

This whole debate on good versus bad and helpful versus harmful had me thinking about social media as a whole. Are we harming ourselves by subjecting ourselves to a cruel virtual world where we are exposed to either criticism, neglect or praise. Social media is a funny thing it can help you stay connected with people who you haven’t seen or just feel like chatting to but I think too much of the younger generation (AKA my generation) social media has become a place to brag. Now I don’t always think this is a bad thing I’m a little guilty of showing off my accomplishments on social media like I’m sure many of you do as well. But there is a different between showing your accomplishments and posting something to deliberately make someone else feel bad. This is harassment and bullying, it is wrong!

Social media has turned into a like game. How many likes can I get? Why did no one like my post/picture? Why did she get more likes then I did? These are all valid questions in today’s social media society. But honestly this is what social media is, it is like another version of high school where people can hide behind computers or cell phones to play the popularity game.

These things can really harm a young person’s self-esteem. It seems like what social media thinks is the biggest things in the world, you think that these peers of yours that you have to subject yourself to every day at school then again to the on twitter, facebook, or Instagram. You think these people control your life and their opinion of you is all that matters but this is false! The only opinion of you that should matter is your own!!!  Every one of you is beautiful, you all are smart, and you all are capable of accomplishing your dreams. The only person you should have to convince this too is you! You control your future, your feelings and your life! Don’t let others pull you down because if you don’t let them drag you down you can’t loose they do and you win.

I know that somethings I am trying to get through to everyone sound like clichès. But they are true and trust me when you start really believing them amazing things will happen to you. You will be so much happier and your life will get that much brighter!  Remember you all are beautiful and if you choose to subject yourself to social media as most people do, you control you. You don’t need the acceptance of these peers who honestly will not matter to you down the road when you have graduated and started living you live.
