I hope you’re all doing well! In preparation for our honeymoon trip to Disney, we’re packing our carry-ons! Michelle did hers already, and she asked me if I wanted to do mine so I thought I would!
I travel a bit lighter than Michelle in most cases, but there are still some essentials that I need to take on the plane with me (In my lovely Marvel backpack).
First, I have my book to keep me entertained while on the plane. This is an absolute essential because more often than not you can find me reading! Currently, I’m reading Battle for Honor: Rebirth. I’ll recommend this to anyone who has a taste for fantasy books, it’s extremely well written and one of my favorite books so far!
Along with my book, I have my electronics. I have a phone charger because I never know when I’m going to need to charge my phone. I also have my Disney wristband so I don’t have to carry a credit card or anything else with me in the park. I’ve always liked this because i have a terrible habit of leaving things somewhere and forgetting where I leave them. I also have my Apple headphones for music, and just in case I don’t have an outlet to charge my phone I have my portable charger made by DYNEX! This thing works awesome and has saved my butt more times than i can count when I’m traveling for for work.
I have my sunglasses By Kreed so I’m not blinded by the sun, and some tissues Star Wars just in case!
But that’s what’s in my carry-on! Like I said, I don’t usually need much = but these are what I consider essential when traveling!
Happy Tuesday! As you all know I will be leaving for my vacation to Disney World in less than two weeks! I am very excited to be getting the chance to spend a full week of no school and no work with my husband, and I am also just as excited to spend the next two weeks shopping for all the summer clothes we will need for the beautiful Florida weather.
Sundresses, sunglasses, shorts, tank tops, all the things I have missed living in the frigid cold the last few months. However, there is one down side to all this fun! Bathing suit shopping…..
No one likes it, basically it is shopping for a piece of clothing that will display all your insecurities to the world. The public beach to a hotel pool… The places where everyone pretends to flaunt it but are really screaming with insecurity and trying to ignore the sudden low self-esteem that these swim suits generate.
It is only the first day of March and were I am from that means another month and a half of layers and chunky sweaters, a nice comfort zone! But to be going to Florida in only two weeks, trust me no northern girl is ready for the swimsuit!
But is this one stupid insecurity worth ruining a week away I have been looking forward to? Absolutely NOT!
Today I am going to go out to conquer my fears of the swim suit department, I will look at those swim suits with an intimidating smirk and realize that a piece of clothing is not worth ruining my self-esteem! I will win the fight against swim suits!
I think it is important to love your own skin and feel confident in your body so why do I have to worry about having a six pack to enjoy 20 minutes at a hotel pool? I don’t I just need to know I am beautiful and let my confidence overpower all my insecurities.
You are all beautiful! I will update you all on Instagram tonight, if you want to see how my bath suit shopping went!
Wish Me Luck,
I hope you all are enjoying this gorgeous Sunday morning!
I wanted to let you know of something that I am extremely excited about!
In just 15 days Tyler and I will be boarding a plane to Disney world! And I’m taking you all with me!
I will be blogging everyday about what we have seen, what we have done, and basically my blog will be filled with magic for a week!
I will be covering everything from what rides we go on to where we plan to eat!
I hope you all join me for a week of Disney Magic! My first post will begin the 13th with the prep and the last post will be on the 19th with our flight home!
I’m so excited to share this adventure with all of you!
Love you all,
I hope you all are enjoying your weekend so far! Today I want to write to you about friendship!
My mother always told me to pick my friends wisely. They are one of the biggest influences you will have in life! They are people who can help you by encouraging you to feel and be the best you can be. But they are also people who could convince you to do stupid things or lower your self esteem.
To me this was really important I believe that I did pick my friends wisely! My friends are people who are supportive and optimistic. They are always there when you need them and in return you need to always there when they need you.
I have been best friends with Jill since 1st grade. She is one of the most important people in my life and I have no doubt that she will always be my best friend.
I may have only been 6 years old but I understood the importance of friendship and how picking a good friend could help me in life! Jill has been through everything with me from first grade through my wedding day! I know she will be there to help me celebrate graduating college just as I will be there to help her celebrate! She will be one of the first people to hold my child one day. That is the best part of having a childhood friend grow with you! They become like family because they have always been there and always will be.
I hope you all realize the importance of friendship and that it really is not about quantity but quality. You choose your friends and let them into your life make sure you surround yourself with people who will help pick you up when you need it and will always be there during the fun and the not so fun times! One thing to remember… if you can fill one hand with true friends you are extremely wealthy!
Friends are important so pick them wisely!
Love you all,
Today I want to write to you about people who would do anything to reach what they consider to be beautiful.
This idea came to me after I had a bad reaction to a Rimmel lip liner I just bought! I am the first to admit that I am an extreme girly girl I love to put on makeup and do my hair but at the same time there are plenty of days I spend the day bumming around in sweatpants and my hair in a bun.
But anyways last night I tried this new lip liner and I loved the color! As I was cooking dinner I started to feel my lips tingle which is extremely odd for a lip liner. I took the chicken out of the oven and went to the bathroom to take it off. My lips were enormous! If you had ever seen the movie Hitch, my allergic reaction was a lot like his!
I typically have a very small top lip that disappears when I smile. But now it was huge it looked like I had some sort of lip injections just to my top lip. Around my lips were red with a crazy itchy rash and I looked insane! I took benydryl and put some ice on my face. Benydryl always knocks me out so this morning when I woke up I thought everything would be better.
It was a little better the rash is basically all cleared up but my top lip is still huge and has cuts from swelling so large! And all from a lip liner, was it worth it… NO!
Some people go under crazy amounts of plastic surgery to achieve their ideal look. They subject themselves to injections all in the name of beauty! I personally think that everyone is beautiful every one is unique and that is how it should be!
I recently watched an episode of the twilight zone (yes, I am a nerd) were on your 16th birthday you undergo a treatment to look the same as all other Women so you can be considered beautiful! Now it’s clear to see that this is insanity but still people do this everyday and spend thousands of dollars doing it.
Why is it so important to have a DD cup size or Angelina Jolie’s cheek bones? Why do you need a Kardashian butt or Jennifer Anniston’s nose! If woman could just get over idolizing the looks of other woman we would be so much happier!
Your own natural beauty is beautiful and that should be enough! Plastic surgery is dangerous and do you really want to risk your life to look like someone else!
I hope you all enjoy your Thursday I will be home icing my lips
Love you all,
Today I want to talk to you about another great book I have found! I know I talk to you all a lot about books, but reading is one of my favorite things to do and I always love to share a good book with you all.
I just finished “The Lives We Lead” by Alexandra Egi, and I have to say I actually couldn’t put it down! The book follows a group of 11th grade girls who are attending an exclusive prep school. King’s Stand is one of the best prep schools that many would die to be let into. The headmistress Ms. Hillcrest will do anything to make King’s Stand appear perfect and keep its flawless reputation.
My favorite part of this book is the dynamic between the four girls. Zoey and Jenni have been best friends since kindergarten. They have been basically inseparable their whole lives. The story takes place with Zoey and Jenni reuniting after spending a year apart because Jenni was in a writing program the previous school year. Will this relationship be the same after a year apart or will that separation drive a wedge between these two best friends? What happens when two people who tell each other everything suddenly have secrets?
Ashley spent last year in the writing program with Jenni, over the last year they became very close friends. To Ashley, Jenni is her best friend but seeing the friendship between Jenni and Zoey is making Ashley jealous. Maddi is the new girl, she ends up rooming with Ashley, who was hoping to room with Jenni. Maddi has all the same classes as Zoey so she seems to be a fourth person thrown into this friendship triangle. With some of the girls being more accepting of her than others will she ever truly fit in?
This book touches upon the real issues of boys, self-confidence, family problems, and friendship. I do not want to give too much away since you all should read it for yourselves! One thing in particular I want to mention is the author of this book. Alexandra Egi is only 17 years old, and a senior in high school. Writing a book takes an insane amount of dedication and patients to have such a huge accomplishment completed before you graduate high school is amazing. Alexandra says that her aspiration is to make a difference in the world! After reading her book I most definitely believe she will accomplish this goal.
I hope you all go out and pick up the “Lives We Lead” by Alexandra Egi! Click on the photo bellow to be taken to the amazon page! If you read it let me know what you all think!!
I don’t know about you but I actually enjoy Mondays! I know that to most people Monday is the end of a weekend but to me it’s also a new week to look forward to! Plus the bachelor!
So today I want to talk to you all about staying true to you, being “younique”!
Like I have talked about a lot a lot of woman find themselves jealous of others. Maybe you want her hair or her body but sometimes it is important to sit back and celebrate being you!
So let’s all make an effort to stay younique! There’s one thing in the world you have that no one else could ever have and that being you! You should be proud of your thoughts, accomplishments, and your beauty!
Inside and out you are all beautiful! Sure you may not look like the model on this month’s Cosmo magazine but honestly after all the retouching and effects she probably doesn’t even look like the girl on that magazine!
Everyone should be able to look in the mirror and be happy with their reflection. Not just your outer beauty but just who you are as a person!
You are the only person who can be you so be younique!
Love you all
Today I want to talk to you about jealousy. Everyone has moments of jealousy whether your jealous of the woman on the cover of the magazine with the perfect body and equally as perfect tan or if your jealous of the girl in your school that has perfectly effortless hair!
We are all guilty of being jealous at some point it’s just who we are! But before you go wishing that you had their life try thinking about what really makes them who they are.
Having perfect hair does not make you perfect! The girl that you think is beautiful may have struggles in her life that you would never want to take on.
The woman with the perfect body in that magazine may seem beautiful and elegant but would you want to be on a diet every day of you life with constant criticism from people who don’t even know you?
Our lives are much more then how we appear. People mask pain and hurt with smiles and laughter, you do not truly know someone till you take the time to understand why they are the way they are.
So it’s true that girl might have beautiful silky hair but maybe she is jealous of you because you have true friends or a loving family!
Before you decide to pull a freaky Friday and try to be someone else or something your not think of all the good things in your life! These are things that not all people have and others might even be jealous of you for having!
Make the best out of your own life! Laugh smile and love yourself!
Love you all
Today I want to talk to you all about being good to your body and staying healthy! This is not a talk about how to lose weight or any crazy diets! It’s about YOU and your HEALTH!
I am an active supporter in keeping a healthy diet! It just makes you feel better. The saying you are what you eat is 100% true. You only have one body do not through away your one chance to live an exciting and healthy life.
Know I am not saying to live off of green smoothies and kale for the rest of you life (although they are good) but just make a conscious effort to feed your body good food! Choose a side salad over fries and drink water instead of soda, just these little changes can make a world of differences!
I am not a gym person, and I never have been. I feel weird being in a room packed full of sweaty people who honestly do not want to be there! and I get so bored staring at the same white walls while running on a stationary machine. Because of this, I exercise at home! I do a simple yoga video every other day and, belief me, it makes a world of difference!
I have always had problems with my back, constant visits to the chiropractor is a norm for me. But since I started doing yoga it has made a world of difference. I roll out my yoga mat in my living room and pick a workout off of Hulu ( the one in the picture is Yasmin Yoga), and I just do it I can pause it if I have to do something its perfect for me!
There are so many free exercise videos on youtube or on demand; you can pick what you want! From yoga to pilates, from boxing to weightlifting there’s no excuse why everyone can;t exercise!
I hope you all choose to keep your bodies healthy and happy.
I hope you enjoyed the guest post from my husband yesterday! He was very excited to get to know you all!
Today I want to write to you about why I made this blog in the first place! Yesterday was my 100th post and I celebrated 3 years on wordpress last week! I feel like its about time that I restate my intent behind this blog.
I started writing my freshman year of college. It started as a way to relieve stress and feel like I was putting some good into the world. I wanted to write to women who needed a confidence boost and a little bit of help seeing their self worth!
I am a true believer that everyone is beautiful and we all deserve to know it! When I first started I was just hoping to reach a few girls and help them with the words I wrote! I remember when I got my first comment saying I helped someone, it was the best feeling ever! Over time I started receiving messages from girls asking for my advice and opinions, this is where a good chunk of my posts came from, I figured if one girl is having these problems others must be too!
I was very happy with my readers I felt like even though I had few readers I was helping those who I was able to reach. But last year everything blew up! I started getting hundreds of subscribers a day and thousands upon thousands of viewers. I tried to keep up with the messages but I am only one person. I began to feel like I wasn’t doing enough for all of you and that I was inadequate to be trying to help so many people. My posts began to get less frequent and eventually I stopped posting for months at a time.
Quite recently I have decided that I can only do the best I can but I still want to help! I am back to blogging everyday and trying to help as many people as I can. I must admit that writing anything that hundreds of thousands of people are going to read is a little daunting but I believe that my words can help!
I hope you have all enjoyed reading my posts over the last three years. Thank you for sticking with me, you all have told me time and time again of how much I have helped you, but you all have helped me too! You all have become my friends, people who I look forward to sharing my stories with. You have been with me through breakups, bad hair cuts, loss of family members, loss of friends, an engagement, and a marriage! So for always being on the other side of the internet I thank you!
I promise to do my very best to always be a loyal friend to all of you and to keep sharing love and advice!
