Healthy Body Healthy Mind

Hello everyone,

Today I want to talk to you all about being good to your body and staying healthy! This is not a talk about how to lose weight or any crazy diets! It’s about YOU and your HEALTH!

I am an active supporter in keeping a healthy diet! It just makes you feel better. The saying you are what you eat is 100% true. You only have one body do not through away your one chance to live an exciting and healthy life.

Know I am not saying to live off of green smoothies and kale for the rest of you life (although they are good) but just make a conscious effort to feed your body good food! Choose a side salad over fries and drink water instead of soda, just these little changes can make a world of differences!

I am not a gym person, and I never have been. I feel weird being in a room packed full of sweaty people who honestly do not want to be there! and I get so bored staring at the same white walls while running on a stationary machine. Because of this, I exercise at home! I do a simple yoga video every other day and, belief me, it makes a world of difference!

I have always had problems with my back, constant visits to the chiropractor is a norm for me. But since I started doing yoga it has made a world of difference. I roll out my yoga mat in my living room and pick a workout off of Hulu ( the one in the picture is Yasmin Yoga), and I just do it I can pause it if I have to do something its perfect for me!

There are so many free exercise videos on youtube or on demand; you can pick what you want! From yoga to pilates, from boxing to weightlifting there’s no excuse why everyone can;t exercise!

I hope you all choose to keep your bodies healthy and happy.

Namaste,

Michelle

An Open Letter To My Readers

Hello Everyone,

I hope you enjoyed the guest post from my husband yesterday! He was very excited to get to know you all!

Today I want to write to you about why I made this blog in the first place! Yesterday was my 100th post and I celebrated 3 years on wordpress last week! I feel like its about time that I restate my intent behind this blog.

I started writing my freshman year of college. It started as a way to relieve stress and feel like I was putting some good into the world. I wanted to write to women who needed a confidence boost and a little bit of help seeing their self worth!

I am a true believer that everyone is beautiful and we all deserve to know it! When I first started I was just hoping to reach a few girls and help them with the words I wrote! I remember when I got my first comment saying I helped someone, it was the best feeling ever! Over time I started receiving messages from girls asking for my advice and opinions, this is where a good chunk of my posts came from, I figured if one girl is having these problems others must be too!

I was very happy with my readers I felt like even though I had few readers I was helping those who I was able to reach. But last year everything blew up! I started getting hundreds of subscribers a day and thousands upon thousands of viewers. I tried to keep up with the messages but I am only one person. I began to feel like I wasn’t doing enough for all of you and that I was inadequate to be trying to help so many people. My posts began to get less frequent and eventually I stopped posting for months at a time.

Quite recently I have decided that I can only do the best I can but I still want to help! I am back to blogging everyday and trying to help as many people as I can. I must admit that writing anything that hundreds of thousands of people are going to read is a little daunting but I believe that my words can help!

I  hope you have all enjoyed reading my posts over the last three years. Thank you for sticking with me, you all have told me time and time again of how much I have helped you, but you all have helped me too! You all have become my friends, people who I look forward to sharing my stories with. You have been with me through breakups, bad hair cuts, loss of family members, loss of friends, an engagement, and a marriage! So for always being on the other side of the internet I thank you!

I promise to do my very best to always be a loyal friend to all of you and to keep sharing love and advice!

With Love,

Michelle

Learning when to say no (Guest Post!)

Hi everyone! My name is Tyler and I am Michelle’s husband! Michelle isn’t feeling well today so she asked me if I wanted to step in and write a little something for you all! A little about myself: I’m 21 years old, and I’m in my last semester of my undergrad studying sociology. I also work at a residential treatment facility for juvenile delinquents as a youth counselor, and hopefully plan to work there after I graduate. In my spare time I also stream video games to Twitch! If you’re interested you can find me at twitch.tv/ttrites

Michelle said I could write about pretty much anything today, so I decided to write about when to say no. One of the clinicians at work gave me some advice the other day that really stuck with me. She said “When it’s most difficult to say no, for whatever reason, It’s probably the most important time to say it.” This advice really hit home for me because in my line of work I need to set boundaries and enforce rules that the residents don’t always agree with. But, these rules are there for a reason, and they are being enforced for their own good.

I really believe that this advice is applicable to other parts of life too. Sometimes with things like peer pressure or other factors in life, it’s really hard to say no to things that you have a bad gut feeling about. Or you might know that it’s the wrong thing to do, but feel pressured to say yes for any number of reasons. It’s times like these where you’ll thank yourself later for going with that gut feeling, and keeping yourself safe.

Now don’t get me wrong, new experiences are what makes life exciting and sometimes really interesting. But if you get yourself into a situation where you really feel strongly that you should say no, you should! Follow your gut feelings, and trust in your own judgement.

I actually really liked doing this! From what I can tell you all are lovely people and I’m so glad Michelle can write for a community that is as nice as all of you! Hope to see you again soon!

A Single Girls Guide To a Netflix Valentines Day

Hello Everyone,

Happy Valentines Day!!

I have been single for enough Valentines day to know that sometimes this day can make the strongest of single ladies feel down. But today is just like any other days! Stay strong woman and celebrate the love you have for yourself, your family, and your friends. Today is all about love; your Valentine can be anyone including yourself! So practice self-love today and do what you want, do what makes you feel beautiful, and do what makes you feel loved!

I spent all of my single valentines days in the most cliche way. With a carton of ice cream, a can of whipped cream and some great movies!

Bellow I will list some of my suggested Netflix movies that will make any single lady feel strong and independent. So here are my top 5 movies that are streaming now!

Click on any of the gifs below to watch the trailers!

#5

The Stepford Wives- Rated PG-13

This is one of the most entertaining movies on Netflix! What better way to realize how great it is to a strong and independent woman then to watch a modern woman take down a bunch of stereotypical “housewives” straight out of the 50’s. The movie is a mixture of a chick-flick and a thriller!

tumblr_m7o8bdYPll1qe0deco1_500.gif

#4 Crossroads- Rated PG-13

This might be the corniest cliche 90’s teen chick flick! But it’s great! What a group of old friends reconnect over a cross country road trip! It’s a great movie about friendship and finding your inner strength! Plus its a lot of fun watching a young Brittany Spears act! tumblr_mjadgcQUN11rl8rnpo1_500.gif

#3 Mulan- Rated PG

Yes, it’s a cartoon but it is also one of the best girl power movies ever made! Mulan is no damsel in distress; she proves to the world that she is strong, and a fighter, she doesn’t need a man to save her! She is one of my heroes, and the movie is one of my favorites!

tumblr_naz2v7YFkD1slp9pio1_500.gif

#2 Marvel’s Jessica Jones

Okay, so it’s a TV show and not technically a movie, but it shows how a girl can kick butt! If you are looking for a binge-worthy TV show, I highly suggest jumping into this one! It’s all about girl power! Trust me Jessica Jones is tough!

tumblr_ny4l5lYY5N1u59ltco2_r1_540.gif

#1 Legally Blonde-Rated PG-13

Well, I am sure you all know the story of the dumb blonde who decides to go to law school because of the boy who got away! Then find her true self and who she was meant to be! This is one of the best feminist films I know it’s funny, smart, and witty! Watch a very lost girl become a powerful and intelligent woman!

tumblr_inline_nnqfvaVLkj1ri4ap6_500.gif

So stroll over to netflix.com and catch up on some girl power! Remember you all are beautiful and deserve the to feel that way every day, even valentines day! Love yourself today!!

Love you all,

Michelle  ❤

The Reception

The first dance, the cake, the toast, the parent dances! All the magical moments of a reception! The ceremony was over, and we were finally married. Time to just have fun, celebrate, and enjoy the rest of the night with our friends and family!

We all arrived to the reception hall; we were announced into the hall filled with our loved ones, and then we danced. Our song was Thinking Out Loud and even though we may be the world’s worst dancers, everything felt right.

The toasts were next; they were given by my husband’s two best men. They were funny, smart, and witty. We took our formal photos smiled and laughed.

We cut our delicious red velvet snowflake cake. We had our parent dances, me and my dad danced to Vienna by Billy Joel and Tyler and his mom danced to My Wish by Rascal Flatts.

After this the dance floor was open, and everyone danced until the end of the night!

My wedding was perfect! From start to finish, I would not have changed anything.

I hope you have enjoyed the details of my wedding I have shared with you over the last week! This will be the last post in my Wedding series. But don’t worry I will be continuing to blog about everything else under the sun!

Tomorrow is our one month anniversary, Its hard to believe that I have already been married for a month! This last month has been incredible I hope you all find that one special person who can make you feel unconditionally loved, it is the most magical feeling in the world!

Love you all

Michelle

The Ceremony

We had arrived at the church 10 minutes before the ceremony started. We said a prayer and lined up for the march down the aisle. One by one my bridesmaids began to disappear through the doors and down the aisle. Before I knew it, the doors had closed again, and it was just my dad and me.

At this point, my nerves were at an all-time high. I had the same feeling you get right before you get in the world’s most intense roller coaster. My two cousins who were in charge of the doors were listening for the music to change as I began to hyperventilate.

The doors open and I looked up to see Tyler at the end of the aisle. All of a sudden all my nerves left it was just him and me. From there everything was perfect. I kissed my dad and mom at the end of the aisle and took the hand of the man who would become my husband in just minutes.

We listened to the pastor talk about what marriage means, Tyler’s cousin and my uncle read scripture, we let the unity candle, said “I Do”, and had our first kiss as husband and wife. Before I knew it, I was walking back down the aisle with my husband.

Everything was perfect, and we were married!

“I want to Look like the Woman He Fell In Love With”

My alarm started screeching at 9 AM. After not getting home till almost 2 am from the rehearsal dinner it seemed to be way to early for this. As I went to press the snooze button, something stopped me. It was my wedding day!

Believe me, when I say I am not a morning person, but I was on January 8th. I knew I needed all the time to prepare for 6 PM. Just 9 hours till the walk down the aisle. My morning began with several texts from my friends and family asking how I was holding up so far. I was surprisingly calm for the morning of the day that would change my life.

I started with my typical routine a quick shower, healthy breakfast, brushing my teeth, and then on to the fun morning with my mom… First I got my hair done at 11, nothing to fancy just some lovely curls. After that, I got my makeup done at a different salon. To me, it was important that I looked like me. I wanted Tyler too look at me and think that’s the woman I fell in love with. The last thing I wanted was over the top makeup that made me look like someone else. I did not want anything over the top, but rather a more polished version of my everyday appearance.

After this, I had to go straight to the hotel to meet my bridesmaids and the photographer. At this point, everything started to feel real! I had three hours till I walked down the aisle, to the man of my dreams! I never doubted that I should be getting married, I felt like the luckiest girl in the world on the luckiest day of her life! But I couldn’t help but feel anxious, it was the day I had been dreaming of since my first fairy tale. A day that I have built up to be the most wonderful and important day in my life. A day that will begin my new life and finally join Tyler and me on a journey through life as husband and wife. All these things started to run through my head as the time got closer and closer to 6 PM.

I was surround by my family and friends, but all I could think about was the butterflies in my stomach. The excitement… the nerves… So many emotion! The photographer kept snapping photos of us getting ready, we posed and smiled and then it was time.

5:45 Time to head to the church….

An Open Letter to My Bridesmaids

It’s one of the most important days of your life. You have found the perfect man and fell head over heals in love and the time has come to take the wonderful walk down the aisle to say “I Do.” The morning of is filled with excitement, anxiety, happiness, and the smallest amount of fear.

At this point, the most important people in your world are the girls who have dedicated their lives the last few weeks to listening to you complain. Complain, about the little details that honestly won’t matter, held your hand through the stress of planning, spent hundreds of dollars on a dress you picked out for them, and cried with you when you finally said yes to your beautiful white dress. These girls become your backbone and support while planning your wedding and become your strength and sanity the day of your wedding.

I would like to send out an open letter to the girls who held my hand through this craziness and kicked their heals off to dance with me after it was all done and time to celebrate!

Dear Ashley, Kelsey, Heather, Jill M, Jill C, Cassie, Jadelyn, and Brittany.

Your love and support has meant so much to me. Since the day, you said yes to being in my wedding you have been my guardian angels. It is an incredibly hard job keeping me sane on any given day never mind my wedding day, or all the days leading up to it. Without you, I highly doubt I would have been able to make it down that aisle.

You were there for every minute of my chaotic planning whether it be in person to hold my hard or over the phone listening to my anxiety and excitement. My wedding day was perfect; It was straight out of my dreams, and it would not have been this way if it was not for all of you!

I apologize for my craziness and stress that I projected on to all you through this process. Now that I look back there was no need for any of it regardless of if all the centerpieces were in the exact center of the tables or if Burgundy was a good accent color for the reception. It didn’t matter if I wore pink or nude lipstick and having the red velvet cake be the perfect shade of red was foolish. But regardless you all talked me down from the ridiculous worries calmly without trying to shake the crazy out of me.

You all were so special to me before all the wedding planning began and my love for you all has only grown more and more since then.

Ashley (maid of Honor) : You have always been someone I look up to. Growing up I could only wish that I would end up like you! I may not have picked up your good social skills, but you have taught me so much. You may only be five years older than me, but you are my sister and I owe you so much! I am so lucky that you are my family because we will have this bond and friendship forever!

Kelsey (maid of Honor) : Best friends since November 1st, 1993, how lonely you must have been for those six months before I was born lol. I am so lucky to have a cousin I was able to grow up with. Being the same age bonded us to share all of the crazy stages life throws at young girls. As my cousin I know we will always have a bond, no matter where our lives take us we will always have each other. I guess this is one of the best parts about having a cousin as a best friend!

Heather: My new little sister! I have never had a little sister before, but I am so glad I have you! You have always been so easy to talk too, since the first day I met your family I have always admired you! You march to your own beat and have the most contagious personality; you have so much to offer the world. I am so proud to have you as a sister!

Jill M: My new big sister! You are one of the nicest people I have ever met! I love how I feel like I always have something to talk about with you! Whether it be fashion, celebrity gossip, our love for the same TV shows, Bickfords, or new books to read! I am so glad to have you as a big sister; we have so much in common, and I always look forward to texting you after the new episodes of our favorite shows! P.S. I am calling Lauren B to win Ben’s heart this season!

Jill C: I honestly do not know what I can say to you that hasn’t already been said! You have been my best friend for 17 years and even though at this point we know way too much about each other and have spent more time together than any two people should you still are one of my favorite people in this world! I look back on any of my big moments in the past 17 years, and you were there for them all. From the first day of first grade till today you have always been there! You will always be my Carrie, and I will always be you, Charlotte! (SITC)

Cassie: Roommates are always friends forever! I am so happy that I ended up rooming with you our sophomore year! You dealt with my crazy then, and you still do now. You are one of the few people that can always get my to open up and just enjoy life. I also think you got the most of my freak out texts leading up to the wedding!

Jadelyn: You are the easiest person to get to know! You are so bubbly and open no one can help but love you! You have been there for me and Tylers entire relationship and having you in my wedding was so special! Thanks for dancing with me all night!

Brittany: My new cousin! First I can’t believe we went to the same high school and never knew each other! You are a life saver, and I am so glad you were apart of my special day! When we told everyone at Christmas we would be getting married in 2 weeks I was nervous how everyone would take it, but you were so excited and supportive all my anxiety instantly left. I was already excited to be saying I do but somehow you made me even more excited! I am so glad that you and I are family!

You all are so beautiful inside and out! You looked stunning in your navy dresses, I love each and every one of you! I owe you all so much more than a letter! You all will forever be my girls, best friends, family, and bridesmaids!

Love

Michelle ❤

The Wedding Planning!

If you ever want to test your mental health try planning a wedding in three weeks! From the dress to the church to the reception to the music to the food to the suit to the guests there is so much to think about when planning a wedding!

I was very lucky I had a great support system with my husband, parents, in-laws, and wedding party. Even thought these three weeks were filled with stress I look back on them with such fondness! These were the days that I planned one of the most important days of my life!

We started by picking the church. We decided on the church that my husband has gone to since he was a child. It was beautiful, and the pastor was amazing. We picked our date based on the availability of the church and then everything started to fall into place. I found my dress at Davids Bridal, was able to get it altered, so it was done the day before the wedding. My eight bridesmaids looked beautiful in short navy dresses, and Tyler would wear a navy suit and his groomsmen a navy suit coats with khaki pants.

Since our wedding was just after new years with plenty of snow on the ground, we decided to keep it a winter theme. We found decorations and favors easily since everything was still on sale from after Christmas. We ordered our seating chart and guest book tree off of etsy.

We had the reception at the Tewksbury Country Club, which is absolutely beautiful and perfect for our wedding. We picked our food off their menu which included, hamburger sliders, coconut chicken, grilled cheese and tomato soup, and a pasta bar. Our photographer moved the date so that she could do our wedding. My husband new of a great DJ, who graduated with his sister.

Everything came together perfectly!

The Wedding.. My Dream!

Hello everyone!

So sorry I have not blogged in the last few months! With the wedding plans my senior year and trying to have some sort of social life I have been BUSY!

If you follow me on any of my social media sites you know that I tied the knot! On January 8th 2016 I said “I Do” to my best friend and the love of my life! I have been loving my new life as Mrs. Trites and have been enjoying my happily ever after!

Since so many of you have been sending me messages asking for updates on what I have been doing or just to say congratulations I thought It would be nice if I could share some details with you all!

So my wedding day was perfect, it was actually more then what I had dreamed of since I was a little girl! The man I married is more amazing then any man I could ever dream up. He is the kindest, most loving man I have ever met. Not only does he make me happy but he makes me feel like no matter where I am I am home as long as I am with him I could never be lost! I hope you all wait for the right man because you all deserve to feel the way he makes me feel.

I’m sure that some of you who keep up with my life were shocked at the wedding date. Yes, it was supposed to be in September but sometimes life throws you a curve ball and you just have to go with the flow. We ended up planning an  entire wedding at a venue that was not practical for our needs. It was to small for the amount of people we felt needed to be there. So while we were on break from school we planned a wedding. Something that takes people months or even years to plan we got together in 3 weeks! and it was perfect!

Over the next week I will be posting a post each day with more details and photos of the wedding! I hope you all enjoy this, and thank you for all your love and support!!

Love,

The New Mrs.  Trites
