STEM in First Grade

It’s STEM time in First Grade and my students are so excited!! For those of you who don’t know, STEM stands for Science Technology Engineering and Math. Students are given materials and a general goal for what the end result of the project should be but are not instructed on how to construct the project. This form of learning allows students to think for themselves and exercise creativity. It can be frustrating for some students who struggle with creativity but the end results of the product are always amazing and they blow themselves away with their abilities!

Today, our STEM lesson involved Marble Run by Magic Journey! Students were put into four groups of four. In these groups they had to work as a team to design a marble run using all 44 pieces in their bucket and they only had 30 minutes to design, build and test. Many students struggled to keep their structure standing and had to hold it while they did their test runs. After building time had ended, students were given a glass marble, a neon ball (lighter in weight than the marble but the same size) and a timer. Students found that the marble had the fastest time and the neon ball had the slowest time!

My students love having STEM lessons incorporated into our schedule! Which is very exciting because our school just announced that they are hiring a STEM teacher for next year so EVERY student in our school will get to do STEM projects next year!!

For all you teacher…do you incorporate STEM into your classroom?? have any great lessons that you have taught, that your students absolutely loved? I am always looking for new STEM projects and lessons! This product is great for parents, teachers or those who spend time with children!! Makeup Monday- Makeup Brushes

Can’t wait to try out my new MAANGE brushes! These affordable brushes (14 in the package) have a great wooden handle arrived quickly thanks to amazon prime!!

I would recommend these brushes to people looking for quality on a budget. I have only used these for a short time so I can not tell you how long they will last but they are great for applying makeup and giving you the perfect look. They came in handy for covering up my sunburn with bronzer and trying out my new shadow pallet from Younique (which I am so in LOVE with)

In this kit you get everything from an eyeliner brush top foundation. Highly recommended!

Workout Wednesday- Yoga

Hello Everyone,

As we mentioned before our blog is in the middle of some changes including creating a few new posts each week that will fit into different categories! Since today is Wednesday we’re going to talk about working out and keeping your body healthy!

For many of the readers who have been reading for a little bit you know how much I enjoy yoga. I feel like it’s the perfect exercise for someone who’s looking to increase the health of there body and mind.

If you have been thinking about trying yoga I would highly recommend it! For me it has become a great time to step away from the stress and weight of work, finances, and other stressors. It gives me a time to reflect on my day positively and soothe any worries.

If you are new to yoga I would not recommend getting to ambitious to fast…pace yourself! You are not going to be a yogi guru your first session, allow your self the time you need to learn. Start by practicing a few poses everyday as you perfect them one by one start adding new poses before you know it you will be a pro and both your body and mind will benefit!

If any of you have any questions related to yoga send me an email I would love to help in any way I can.

Namaste,

Michelle

My Recent Struggle

Hello everyone,

I apologize that I haven’t posted in a very long time. After college life just seems to get in the way of all the little things you want to do rather then have to do.

I am writing today because I have experienced the hardest thing I have ever had to go through. My husband and I found out we were pregnant with our miracle baby earlier this fall. After turning my life upside down to make sure everything would be perfect for our growing family we found out our baby had stopped developing. There was nothing we could do but cry and morn this little miracle that we are never going to meet.

I waited weeks to have a natural miscarriage because I didn’t think I could mentally deal with the idea of surgery. It turned out that my body wasn’t able to detect that the baby had stoped developing and I had to go through the procedure regardless of how hard it would be. I prayed for so long to become pregnant and I knew walking into the hospital that day that when I woke up I would no longer be pregnant. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do.

Early last year my husband and I were told that we would have very little time to have our own child and after trying for so long it seemed like nothing would work. I finally gave up hope on having my own child, I started focusing on a career and looked forward to the day that we could afford to adopt or find a surrogate to bless us with a completed family.

Then this miracle happened and I can’t begin to tell you how much it filled my life and my heart with happiness. I would have moved mountains for this little baby. And although I know there was nothing I could do to prevent this from happening I feel as if I have failed my family my husband and myself.

I know one day I will have the perfect family wether that be by giving birth or adoption. But the sadness this has caused has been the hardest thing I have had to endure.

I am writing this today because I have felt very alone in this time and I hope none of you ever experience this sadness. But if you ever find yourself in this horrible situation know that you are not alone. So many women go through this but we are too embarrassed or sad or heartbroken to talk about it. This has not been easy for me to write but if I can help one person feel as if they are not alone it was well worth my tears.

I am very lucky to have a strong support system of family and friends who love me. But the truth is not many people know what to say or what to do to help. It’s a very hard thing to understand if you have not been through this yourself.

I love you all, thank you for continuing to be a line of love and support!

Thank you to all my friends and family who have showed me all there love and support. You mean the world to me.

Xoxo

Smile Brilliant! Whitening My Teeth At Home

Whitening Teeth At Home

Hello Everyone,

I hope you all enjoyed your holidays! Since it’s a new year I decided to take charge of one thing that always seems to bother me, my yellow teeth. Most of you who follow my blog and Instagram know that I struggle with a tea and coffee addiction, leaving me with stained teeth that just don’t look great in pictures.

I have partnered with Smile Brilliant to improve my own teeth and tell you all about their amazing product! Smile Brilliant is a home teeth whitening system that is designed to give you those perfect white teeth I thought was only possible by spending thousands and spending hours at the dentist.

To start the whitening process with Smile Brilliant you first need to use the teeth whitening trays kit to take molds of your own teeth. This sounds scary but it was actually super simple and the whitening trays you receive really do make a huge difference. Check out this article on the benefits of custom-fitted trays.

Once you create the molds of your teeth you simply send them back to Smile Brilliant and before you know it your personal whitening trays show up at your doorstep! The trays you receive are soft and flexible, making the whole whitening process comfortable.

One thing about teeth whitening I get very nervous about is causing tooth sensitivity, well with smile brilliant there will be none of that! Along with the whitening gel syringes you will also receive a few syringes of desensitizing gel. By filling the trays with this gel and leaving it on for 15-20 minutes I never experienced a sensitivity problem!

Over the past week I have been hard to work on my teeth whitening, one hour each night! I am very happy with my results and recommend Smile Brilliant to anyone looking to brighten their smile! Here are my before and after photos!

I plan on continuing to whiten my teeth for the next few weeks I will be posting updates on my Instagram! Remember to follow me to stay up to date on my progress.

I am going to link this YouTube video that will help demonstrate Smile Brilliant.

Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have on Smile Brilliant, if you decide to try it, I will include the link to Smile Brilliant, don’t forget to let me know about your experience!

If you decide to try out Smile Brilliant click this link to get 20 off any tray kit you choose! www.smilebrilliant.com/g/inspiringthegirls

Bella’s Illness

image1-1This will be our third Christmas with Bella, every year she gets excited and uses her nose to sniff out all her treats wrapped under the tree. When we rescued two-year-old Bella from the MSPCA she was a little ball of energy. There were signs that she had been abused in her previous home so it took her a few months to feel safe and realize all image1we wanted to do was love her.
We wanted to give Bella the best most loving forever home we possibly could. We wanted her to feel safe and secure, loved, and wanted. Bella went multiple times a week to run with her friends at doggy daycare or as we called it school, she knew the days she wanted to go see her friends because she would bark and follow you around the entire time you were getting ready for work. Bella loves to watch the voice and lay in front of her fake fireplace.capture
We know that Bella didn’t have the easiest life in her previous home. When we adopted her we wanted to give her the best possible life we could give her. She is a sweet and lovingcapture7 Bulldog that wins over the hearts of anyone who has the pleasure of knowing her.

Recently Bella had started whimpering and crying out in pain. It has taken multiple Vets several weeks and many tests before they finally found what is causing Bella’s pain. capture4Through an MRI administered by a Neurologist they have been able to diagnose her with Inflammatory Brain Disease, this is a brain disease which is causing her severe pain; as well as, seizures and vertigo. As her family we want to give her every chance she has to live a full and happy life especially since Bella is only five years old. Vets have recommended a series of chemo treatments, steroids, and pain medicine to keep her comfortable.

capture5This makes me so sad not just because she’s my pup but because  She deserves to be happy and healthy!!!! We are blessed to have her grace our home with her spunk and personality.

A Binge-Worthy New Blog

Hi, everyone!

I hope your holidays haven’t been too stressful! With all of the traffic and long lines in stores, sometimes it’s easy to forget that holidays are supposed to be fun and about family and loved ones! So take a deep breath, make yourself a cocoa and enjoy this last week before Christmas or Hanukkah!

One of the reasons I got into blogging was because reading other people’s blogs has always been a great escape for me, when my life gets stressful, or I’m just looking for something to keep me entertained I turn to others blogs. Reading the words that these people choose to share with the world make you feel like you know them on a personal level! You become friends with them just as I became friends with all of you!

I am mentioning my deep appreciation for bloggers today because I want to share with you a new blog I have recently been loving! It’s called “Jess Said That”, As you all know I love to share about strong women who are sharing their voice! “Jess Said That” is written by my cousins Jess, she is a middle school teacher and just became a first-time mom! Jess shares her perspective on motherhood, pregnancy, and life in general! Her posts are filled with truth, babies, humor, and 100% real life! She is an amazing writer and has so much to share with all of you! I wholeheartedly recommend you all go give “Jess Said That” a read and a subscribe!

There’s A Little Turkey In All Of Us

Hey Everyone,

Happy Monday, I know Mondays are typically nothing to be excited but I still hope you all had a great day!

It’s almost Thanksgiving here in America and you we can officially let the Holiday season begin! Just like most of the world, The holidays are always my favorite time of the year. The magic is everywhere people literally sing in the streets!

The best part about this time of the year is that you get to spend it with family and friends and the people who mean the most to you!

To me, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because you get to express your love and thankfulness for each other! Its a time to reflect on the year and think about who and what you are thankful for. It’s not all about Turkey even though who could resist that much food!

Usually, I would post something like this on the actual holiday but for me, it was one of those Mondays I needed a little bit of optimism and thoughtfulness! Since this post is early I hope you all take the next few days to think about who and what you are thankful for!

For example:

I am thankful for every single one of my followers and readers, not only do I feel your love and support on a daily basis but you have become such good friends! Regardless of if we have ever met or ever will meet you all have become a huge part of my life! I wish you all a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!

XOXO,

Michelle
