#superEmma update: Thank you everyone who reached #superEmma update:
Thank you everyone who reached out regarding Emma’s diabetes insipidus testing. I finally got the results this morning and Emma’s sodium was on the lower end of normal meaning she does not have diabetes insipidus.

Her endocrinologist mentioned that the osmality of her blood is higher then expected, this is most likely the reason for her frequent urination and constant thirst. Unfortunately he is not sure what could be causing this and he will be getting back to us if additional tests are needed.

Although we are still nervous about Emma’s blood result and waiting to see exactly what it means we are glad to rule out diabetes insipidus.

I will continue to update you on any developments but we are hoping nothing more is needed and she can just enjoy toddlerhood for a little while.

We are beyond thankful for the prayers, love, and support y’all send our family. Thank you for being our friends and following along on our journey, we love you all!!
My house maybe a mess, my car may need oil, I may My house maybe a mess, my car may need oil, I may have misplaced all of my left shoes or forgotten to shower, but today she is healthy, happy, and smiling!

Today diabetes won’t stop her, today she will laugh and play, today she is a kid!

Most days I get overwhelmed from a day of constant lows or stubborn highs, some days I feel like I’ve finally figured it out only to have a night of 0 sleep and countless finger pokes.

But when I look back on this time I want to remember her smiles, I want to remember every laugh, and I want to remember the joys of her childhood.

I refuse to let diabetes take that from us. Childhood changes with a diabetes diagnosis. For diabetics childhood can be filled with worry, stress, and decisions. Just like adults they carry the weight of diabetes. But that isn’t what I want for her.

Parents of Diabetic kids take on a challenge. The challenge to teach their children the importance of keeping themselves healthy, teaching them the importance of keeping their blood sugars managed, and teaching them the importance of proper insulin dosages.

But we also take the challenge of carrying these struggles for them. Tell them to never be afraid even when we live life terrified.

We watch their Dexcom while they run, throw them a juice box when needed, chase after them to give them a bolus when they don’t want to stop playing, sing them songs to distract them from the Dexcom pokes, stay up all hours of the night to maybe catch a low or correct a high, be a hand to hold for blood work, give them a high-five after a successful doctors appointment, spoil them with low carb treats that you spent hours perfected, and telling them every day they are more then the number they see on the meter, that they are more then their A1C, and they are more then diabetes!!

I worry every single day about Emma, I worry about her diabetes, I worry about her developmental delays, I worry about to world we live in, I worry about everything but If that means she has one less thing to worry about, if she gets to smile and run, and have magical adventures then I am doing my job and it’s been a successful day!

Welcome to life with a diabetic toddler.
Happy #tututuesday everyone! If you haven’t rea Happy #tututuesday everyone!

If you haven’t read my Tutu Tuesday post from last week, we are taking Tuesdays to celebrate Emma and all her accomplishments! This is our New Years resolution

Diabetes is hard on our entire family but poor Emma has to fight everyday regardless of the fact that she is still too young to understand the fight she is fighting.

A diagnosis of diabetes increases your risk of depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and even more. I will do everything possible to keep that smile on her face.

We do everything we can to celebrate Emma daily. But we wanted to set aside one day a week to celebrate her accomplishment, strength, and what she’s learned in the previous week.

This week we are celebrating with her @taylorjoelledesigns Tiana tutu dress and fun in her @smartrike ball pit!

 From the words of Tiana:
“There's been triles and tribulations. You know I've had my share, but I've climbed the mountain, I've crossed the river, and I'm almost there!” @anikaaroundtheworld

What are you celebrating on this beautiful Tutu Tuesday?

@omnipod
#AD We are definitely missing Walt Disney World. #AD We are definitely missing Walt Disney World. Currently Counting down the days until our next trip!

Luckily to help get us through to September we found the coolest subscription box! It’s called @waltlifeboxes and you get a magical surprise every month!

A box filled with Disney goodies to enjoy even when you can’t be at the parks! This month we got the #WaltWars box filled with surprise Starwars goodies!

If you are missing the parks as much as our family check them out, use code INSPIRINGTHEGIRLS10 for 10 dollars off your order!
This year I am focusing on the word onward. Last y This year I am focusing on the word onward. Last year was hard on us, watching Emma get sick and dealing with a diagnosis that will last her lifetime is a hard thing to swallow!

I want to focus on the future, realistically what her future will look like and how we can make it the best childhood possible. Although I wish more then anything to take away diabetes from her and have her live a “normal” childhood that isn’t going to be possible.

Did you know that diabetics are more prone to depression, anxiety, social anxiety, and eating disorders? This year I want to focus on our health, the positives we can find on a daily basis, and just plain happiness!!

We are going back to our weekly #tututuesday letting Emma pick her favorite dress and celebrating everything she’s accomplished in the last week!

This week we are celebrating a new word (good), running, trying new food, and the fact that Emma still wakes up smiling every morning!

Not everyday is easy and carefree but this sweethearted, kind, and energetic toddler deserves to enjoy her childhood, celebrate her accomplishments, and have fun!

I love the smile that her @taylorjoelledesigns dresses bring to her face! I can’t wait to see what our #tututuesday has in store for Fancy Emma today!

So as Fancy Nancy says:
“If things are looking boring
And feeling oh, so, bleak
Just add a little fancy
And you'll make it fantastique!”

Thank you @taylorjoelledesigns and @miasinclairjenness for bringing a smile to Emma’s face today!
I loved seeing our photos transformed into beautif I loved seeing our photos transformed into beautiful illustrations!

These pictures hold a lot of memories, they were taken right after Emma was put on the pump. Only about a month past Emma’s diagnosis. It was a scary time but these amazing photos by @megdunn_photography remind me of my families strength, courage, determination, and that we will do everything possible for each other.

These new illustrations by @illustrationsby_rae are the perfect pieces of art to remind me of how far we have come and how we will keep moving forward. Diabetes and life can throw us curveballs we will have to climb a few mountains but there Is nothing stopping us from conquering what is ahead.

I don’t consider myself much of an artist but when I see the work done by these two amazing artists for my family there is a special place in my heart! 🧡🧡🧡
5 years since we said “I Do” I am so proud of 5 years since we said “I Do” I am so proud of everything we’ve accomplished in those five years. We have built a beautiful family, a loving home, had wonderful adventures, lived through the highs and lows, and most importantly never let go of each other!

I look to you daily to help me through this crazy life and I know we will always have each other at the end of the day.

Thank you for being the kind, generous, and loving father that Emma deserves. It warms my heart every single day when she gets so excited to see you walk through the door!

I love you more and more with each day. And every chapter of our book keeps getting better!

Thank you for being my first diabuddy, getting me venti coffees and teas even when I barely drink half, being my late night snack runner, planning vacations to change my mine and go back to Disney, and everything else that my heart needs each day!

Happy anniversary, I love you!
Thank you for being my inspiration everyday. Life Thank you for being my inspiration everyday. Life as your mom is so rewarding, so special, and what I was made to do.

This past year has been hard on both of us, as well as the world. We have had the ups and downs of sugar levels, developmental delays, and so many changes to adapt to. But you little Emma have been so strong, so resilient, and absolutely amazing.

When I call you #SuperEmma it is not a joke or a game. You my baby are my hero, you save my heart and sole everyday and the strength I see in your little face is my inspiration for everything I do.

Diabetes has thrown us twists and turns, ups and downs, highs and lows. But I will always be here for you. I will take your sugar through the nights so you can sleep, I will watch your carbs, constantly check your @dexcom and teach you what needs to be done to keep you safe!

Little superhero I will forever be your sidekick. I will forever be your diabuddy, and I will forever be your mom.

I see your strength, I see your kindness, I see everything that you need to change this world and make it beautiful!
A diagnosis of diabetes makes you grow up fast. Yo A diagnosis of diabetes makes you grow up fast. You deal with daily decisions that can be extremely dangerous if you make the wrong choice.

You walk around with a life saving drug that keeps you alive but the wrong dose could kill you.

As a parent to an 18 month old with type 1 diabetes I do everything to take that burden off of her.

It is a tricky situation because you want your child to enjoy the joys of childhood like every other child. But you also need them to understand how to care for themselves, how to make these decisions, and to understand the gravity of this illness and the decisions that need to be made.

The moments emma was diagnosed my world shattered. Being T1D myself I lived through the stress, anxieties, and worry that come with diabetes. Something I hoped Emma would never know. But here we are trying to balance the stress and worry of three diabetics in one house.

Daily I try to remember to take care of my own sugar when I’m obsessing over Emmas!

It’s not easy but it is our reality and this little girl will learn, adapt, and conquer diabetes.

She’ll know the stresses and worries but I hope she knows the joys and excitement of child hood. I hope she loves to dance and chases after the ice cream truck!

I hope Emma never lets this diagnosis stop her, to be honest, I would do anything to make sure of that! This little girl deserves nothing less then happiness, laughter, smiles, and silliness!
Hey Everyone, I have a lot of new friends here an Hey Everyone,

I have a lot of new friends here and it’s a new year so let me introduce myself!

I’m Michelle your average 27 year old mama. I live with my sweet husband Tyler, my chaotic but perfect 1 year old Emma, and our overly opinionated Pomeranian Watson. And... No, Emma Watson is not a coincidence 🙃

Our family is made up of three type one diabetics. We share our highs and lows on a daily basis as well as our life beyond diabetes. I think it’s extremely important to advocate and educate about diabetes so there will be plenty of that on here.

We live in New England and recently bought our little dream house! I am attempting to decorate but home decor it not my forte 🤣

I am a full time mom and a full time pancreas to Emma! This means I’m constantly exhausted I live in my leggings and maybe do my makeup once a week 😬

This community means the world to me. Y’all have become amazing friends who I look forward to catching up with everyday. Some of you have been here with me through college, marriage, new jobs, infertility, pregnancy, motherhood, Emmas diagnosis, and so much more! So thank you!

Let’s laugh, cry, smile, win, and fail together!

It is light weight and it can be used in the rear-facing position from 5-40 pounds or forward-facing from 22-40 pounds. So we have a lot of use left in this car seat! Diabetes affects your life in so many different wa Diabetes affects your life in so many different ways. On a daily basis it effects me both physically and mentally.

In the last 14 years of being diabetic I’ve realized that self care is important. Sometimes it is not about the perfect number but doing something that makes you feel good, makes you see that you have diabetes but you are not diabetes, and makes you feel yourself again.

For me this self care comes in the form of a guitar and a manicure!

Me and Emma had our first spa day at home! We spoiled ourselves with @mejosiofficial Glue-on Nails and #mejosi Kid-friendly nail polish kits.

Emma enjoyed her first manicure and I enjoyed that fresh out of the nail salon feeling at home! As a diabetic we are always testing and looking at our fingers! Seeing a new pretty manicure makes these tasks a little easier on me!

I’ll be linking our nails in my story so if you are looking for a little self care check them out!!
#AD Emma loves her daily walks. They aren’t ver #AD Emma loves her daily walks. They aren’t very long this time of year because of the cold but it’s still so important to get out see the world, breath fresh air, and enjoy our neighborhood!

Emma love our Cosco Umbrella Stroller because of the fun Narwhal on the adjustable canopy! I love it because it is lightweight and compact, letting me take it along in the car or fold it down easily and stow it away when we aren’t using it.

Check out the link in my bio to learn more about our cosco stroller!

Do you want to know what it’s like to be a diabe Do you want to know what it’s like to be a diabetic? Let me tell you...

There is the stress of all the choices we have to make. Do we take insulin, do we wait, should I eat that, should I wait, when was my last correction, can I correct again, when do I need to change my pod, when do I need to change my sensor, is this a safe number to go to bed, am I thirsty because my sugars high, when did I open this insulin vial, do I have all my supplies in my bag, did I pack enough snacks?

These are just some of the decisions a diabetic needs to make each day.

We deal with shakey, sweaty, dizzy, lows. And tired, thirsty, heart pounding highs.

We go to bed worried about which way our blood sugar will go as we sleep.

Diabetes steals our carefree life no matter what age we are diagnosed. We Mourn what our life once looked like or the life we imagined for our child but have no choice but to grow up and make these hard decisions everyday.

Diabetes makes you a fighter!

We panic at the monthly prices we pay for insulin, testing supplies, pump supplies, CGM supplies.

Diabetes has us stressing about every aspect of our life. Financial, health, social, everything is effected by diabetes.

So when someone tells you not to eat that because your diabetic, when someone tells you you can’t because your diabetic, when someone shames you because your diabetic.... I hope you realize that you have to make more choices and make smarter decisions in one day then they do in a week, or a month, or a year; or maybe even a lifetime!

To all my diabuddies you are amazing, you are determined, you are smart, you are a freaking superhero!
Happy holidays everyone! We hope you and your fa Happy holidays everyone!

We hope you and your family enjoy a wonderful holiday filled with fun, laughter, and love!

I know this year will be difficult and different for many but please remember the love, family, and friendships that will be awaiting us for next years Christmas celebrations.

If you haven’t heard of @t1dexchange you need to If you haven’t heard of @t1dexchange you need to look into them.

We are a family of three Type 1 diabetics. Each of us have our own story and we each have our own experiences. I aim for not only for my voice and experiences to be heard but also the voices of Tyler, Emma, and the rest of the #t1dcommunity

With @t1dexchange every T1D voice is heard and listened to. It is an online study were all you have to do is take an annual survey. It only takes about 15 minutes to complete.

It is open to both adults and children with T1D. So if you have 15 minutes a year and Type 1 diabetes register. It only takes 15 minutes to a support your fellow #T1Dwarriors and let your voice, experience, and data be heard!
