When Emma was put on the @dexcom last week I also

When Emma was put on the @dexcom last week I also started it! We do all our change outs at the same time, we wear matching bandages, and she gets to pick out our matching stickers with every change out! I want to show her that diabetes can’t stop her and she is no different then any other toddler!

This week Emma picked out the mermaid scale Dexcom stickers! I am loving the extra fun it adds and how happy she is to pick out her sticker!

I have been taking Emma’s temperature daily just to make sure she isn’t getting sick! One of my amazing readers nominated Emma for a @tinysuperheroes cape this is an organization that makes capes for children diagnosed with illnesses. When a child is nominated a donation page is created, when they reach 50 dollars their cape is sent to that child. Emma's page has not only paid for her own cape but also a cape for two other Tiny Super Hero's! Thank you for the nomination and the donations Emma's cape is helping her be strong and brave everyday! It's amazing knowing that two other kids have their capes now too!

This is one of the first days I feel good and less overwhelmed by her #type1diabetes diagnosis. It was so nice to see my happy little girl smile again and just enjoy being a toddler!

So happy to have this little girl back home! She is so strong and so brave. At such a young age she doesn’t understand that her insulin injections are helping her, she just knows they hurt.
But regardless she is still smiling. Seeing your child so sick is the most terrifying experience! This little fighter is my hero, while we were crumbling she was fighting! 💙💙

Well it has been a horrible few days but Emma is f

Well it has been a horrible few days but Emma is finally home and we are ready to start this next chapter to get her healthy and back to her old self!

Yesterday she had a sugar of 118, which is her best sugar yet! There is a lot to learn about toddlers with diabetes, we are lucky to have knowledge with our own diabetes but it hasn’t made this experience less overwhelming or less heartbreaking.

I wanted to thank all the #t1dmoms for your support and advice. Talking with you all these last few days has made this process so much better, it’s easy to feel alone and overwhelmed but with a community like this the transition is becoming easier! Thank you for helping and supporting us!

Not what we were planning on posting about today but Emma has been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.

As many of you know both Tyler and I are diabetics, this has been something we feared since we found out Emma was on her way since it is a genetic disease.

It has been a very hard few days, we are learning how to care for a toddler who now needs insulin injections and a strict diet.

I will be writing about this on the blog when I have time but for now please know that Emma is safe and the hospital is doing an amazing job caring for her.

We appreciate all the positive thoughts and prayers as we navigate this new chapter.

If you are a Type 1 momma and have advice to help us with this new diagnosis please let me know!

I never truly understood this quote until I became a mom. My understanding for both patience and time has changed so much! Patience has become a way of life. Understanding that your child will learn and grow as you teach them and help them. Time has become both an enemy and a friend, as she grows I begin missing the younger stages but enjoy watching the women she is becoming!
