The Lives We Lead

Hello everyone,

Today I want to talk to you about another great book I have found! I know I talk to you all a lot about books, but reading is one of my favorite things to do and I always love to share a good book with you all.

I just finished “The Lives We Lead” by Alexandra Egi, and I have to say I actually couldn’t put it down! The book follows a group of 11th grade girls who are attending an exclusive prep school. King’s Stand is one of the best prep schools that many would die to be let into. The headmistress Ms. Hillcrest will do anything to make King’s Stand appear perfect and keep its flawless reputation.

My favorite part of this book is the dynamic between the four girls. Zoey and Jenni have been best friends since kindergarten. They have been basically inseparable their whole lives. The story takes place with Zoey and Jenni reuniting after spending a year apart because Jenni was in a writing program the previous school year. Will this relationship be the same after a year apart or will that separation drive a wedge between these two best friends? What happens when two people who tell each other everything suddenly have secrets?

Ashley spent last year in the writing program with Jenni, over the last year they became very close friends. To Ashley, Jenni is her best friend but seeing the friendship between Jenni and Zoey is making Ashley jealous. Maddi is the new girl, she ends up rooming with Ashley, who was hoping to room with Jenni. Maddi has all the same classes as Zoey so she seems to be a fourth person thrown into this friendship triangle. With some of the girls being more accepting of her than others will she ever truly fit in?

This book touches upon the real issues of boys, self-confidence, family problems, and friendship. I do not want to give too much away since you all should read it for yourselves! One thing in particular I want to mention is the author of this book. Alexandra Egi is only 17 years old, and a senior in high school. Writing a book takes an insane amount of dedication and patients to have such a huge accomplishment completed before you graduate high school is amazing. Alexandra says that her aspiration is to make a difference in the world! After reading her book I most definitely believe she will accomplish this goal.

I hope you all go out and pick up the “Lives We Lead” by Alexandra Egi! Click on the photo bellow to be taken to the amazon page! If you read it let me know what you all think!!

With love,

Michelle
